Champlain Weekend Marketplace – Vendor Info & Application

About the Marketplace

Now in its second year, the Champlain Weekend Marketplace celebrates the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of our alumni, students, faculty and staff.

In the inaugural year of the marketplace, we had 15 vendors selling everything from handcrafted cards, photos, jewelry, beauty products, and more. Several students from our Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship displayed poster projects showcasing their business ideas. The Marketplace was one of the most well-received additions to Champlain Weekend we have ever had, and numerous guests asked for it to return.

This year we would love to see even more vendors selling their creations!

Location

Vendor booths will be located in the Argosy Gymnasium located in the IDX Student Life Center. Booths will be set-up inside to allow for protection from any inclement weather, and will be in a prime location to allow easy access for the 1,000+ attendees of the weekend which includes parents, alumni, students and friends.

Marketplace Categories

Review the categories and select which category you will be applying under. Marketplace vendors are expected to the hands-on makers of their work (no resale items).

• BODY CARE: Handmade soaps, lotions, etc.
• CERAMICS: Original clay work handmade & individually signed by the artist. No work from commercial kits, molds or patterns allowed.
• CLOTHING: Shirts, onesies, sweaters, etc.
• DRAWING/GRAPHICS: Pencil, charcoal, chalk, pastels, etc.
• FIBER-ACCESSORIES: Bags, purses, hats, belts, scarves, including those made from leather.
• FIBER-OTHER: Wall hangings, quilts, rugs, mats, pet items, etc.
• GLASS: No molds or other forms of mass production.
• JEWELRY: Jewelers must be the designers & hands-on makers of their work.
• MIXED MEDIA: Work where the primary intention is the union of two or more media, such as collage or dried floral.
• OTHER: Candles, books, paper, etc.
• PACKAGED FOOD: Handmade salsa, breads, honey, jams, etc. Packaged and intended for off-premise consumption.
• PAINTING: Oils, acrylics, tempera, watercolor, etc.
• PAINTING DECORATIVE: Applied to glass, wood, slate, objects as decoration.
• PHOTOGRAPHY: Prints made from artists’ original work.
• PUBLICATIONS: Original books, devotionals, picture/illustrated books, etc.
• SCULPTURE: 3-dimensional original work done in any medium.
• WOOD: Original hand-tooled, machine-worked or carved work.

Marketplace Rules

1. You, your business partner, or your family member, must be alumni, student or faculty/staff of Champlain College in order to participate in the marketplace as a vendor.
2. You may only display and sell items in the categories in which you are entered.
3. You must be the hands-on creator of everything you are selling and must personally attend your exhibit.
4. Your booth must be open for all hours of the marketplace. Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 11am-4pm.
5. You must collect and pay VT State sales tax (currently 6%).
6. This requirement is ONLY for packaged food and body care applicants: You will need to send us proof of insurance.
7. Please bring your own change for cash transactions.

Support Provided by Champlain College

• Vendors will be given free admission to Champlain Weekend, as applicable (faculty, staff and current students are not charged to attend the weekend).
• Volunteers will be available to help with set-up, clean-up and any questions the day of the marketplace.
• Tables, linens, chairs, lunch, and parking will be provided.
• Marketing on our website, communications and through social media will be available for each vendor.
